Our local NHS primary care trusts have issued the following updated advice regarding the swine flu outbreak:

What is Swine Flu?

• Official name is H1N1 – new strain of flu circulating on a global level.
• Birmingham has a high number of cases with most being in Heart of Birmingham.
• Mild illness lasting up to 5 days.

Those without underlying illness recover well.

Consultation starts on new swimming pool

The plans for the proposed olympic-sized swimming pool in Ladywood will open to the public today. They can be seen at an exhibition at the Nelson Primary School due to be launched today.

Brindleyplace Local Produce Market

A monthly local produce market launched on Friday the 29th and will be held at Brindleyplace between 10am – 2pm on the last Friday of every month. Unfortunately I couldn’t go myself, but reports I’ve heard of the first market were very favourable and I can certainly vouch for the tastyness of the produce my husband bought!
