New Library – Community Participation

I have an invitation from the people planning the new Library of Birmingham to participate in designing how local residents and communities want to relate to this new building. Anyone interested in joining in, please read on . .

Jo McCausland, who is managing the business Transformation programme for the Library of Birmingham, is preparing a specification and a pilot workshop which will test out some of the ideas the project team have for community engagement in the new library. They are seeking a way of working which “facilitates dialogue and the exchange of ideas, knowledge and the learning process, in and through the library, but delivered by third parties with a light touch moderation by the library”.
They already know how to deal with academics and businesses, but don’t know how make useful contact with ordinary people!

I am trying to arrange to meet with Jo sometime in the next few weeks.
Anyone want to join in?

David Foster
