West Midlands first Police and Crime Commissioner passed away unexpectedly this morning at the age of 59.

Bob was voted into the job by the Birmingham City electorate on November 2012 competing with 6 others and obtained a vote of 117,388 votes which was 61,703 over the next candidate. This result is a measure of his popularity which he continued to enjoy in his term of office through his obvious integrity and clear thinking.

Yvonne Mosquito, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner said:  “This is a huge loss to the West Midlands and to policing.  Bob was a dear friend and a deeply committed public servant.   All our thoughts are with Bob’s wife Sarah and his family at this sad time.”

The City Centre Neighborhood Forum Committee would also like to express  its sympathies.
