Protest by English Defense League

English Defense League LogoOn Saturday 11 October the English Defence League will be holding a demonstration in Centenary Square, next to the Hall of Memory, in Birmingham city centre.

At the same time groups in opposition will stage a counter-demonstration event in Victoria Square.

Birmingham police will work hard to ensure protestors stay within the allocated protest locations.

Birmingham Police have no powers to ban static protests of this kind, however officers will be in place on the day to ensure that everyone who comes to the city centre, be it to take part in the protest or to go about their day to day business, can do so in safety.

The Police ask you to consider the following:

  • Feedback any information or intelligence that may help to support the policing operation being planned via an email to¬†contactus@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk
  • Communicate to your community, friends and family the above and encourage non-attendance at protest or counter-protest
  • Encourage business as normal for Saturday 11 October.
