Birmingham Connected issued the following news on 14 August 2017

Topics in this update:

1. M6 J6 7 A38(M) cancellation of weekend closure 18-21/08/17

2. National Express Bus Reviews

1. M6 J6 Spaghetti/Gravelly Hill Interchange work

More good progress has been made by Highways England on the M6 J6 Spaghetti/Gravelly Hill Interchange work. As a result, the full weekend closure of the A38(M) and J6 exit slip roads will not be needed this weekend – the A38(M) Aston Expressway will remain open. The weekday restrictions will carry on into the weekend:

  • Tidal flow lane on the A38(M) (controlled by electronic overhead signs) closed.
  • Narrow lanes on A38(M) with a 30mph speed limit for safety reasons.
  • Gravelly Hill approach to the A38(M) closed.
  • Gravelly Hill closed into city from Six Ways to the A38(M) (access to frontages only), diversions in place.
  • The Tyburn Road approach to the A38(M) closed, Tyburn Road itself will remain open.
  • Park Circus on slip open.
  • Salford Circus open.

The final weekend closure (8pm Friday 25 August to 6am Monday 28 August) will still happen, for waterproofing and restoration of the ‘wearing course’ top layer of tarmac.

As an added bonus, emergency services were able to take advantage of last weekend’s closure of the A38(M) to run a large scale training exercise. More information and photos in the attached pdf from Highways England.

2. National Express Bus Reviews

A reminder that National Express West Midlands are currently consulting on changes to bus services in South Birmingham.

Consultation closes on Monday 21 August and two pdf documents with more details are attached.

At the same time, National Express are asking about your experience of Hagley Road bus services.

You are encouraged to respond to both these surveys.
