Police Meeting for Residents re Conservative Conference Security

The West Midlands Police are holding a meeting for Residents on the security measures to be employed to ensure the safety of all during the Conservative Party Conference at the ICC between Sunday 30th September and Wednesday 3rd October 2018.

The police message issued is shown below:

This is to inform you that it is the intention of the Conservative Party to hold their Annual Conference at The International Convention Centre (ICC), Broad Street, Birmingham and to use The Hyatt Regency Hotel, Broad Street, Birmingham as accommodation for its delegates between Sunday 30th September and Wednesday 3rd October 2018

As a result of this conference West Midlands Police, in conjunction with our partner agencies, will be required to plan and organise an operation for this major event. The Police Operation for the event will be known as Operation PELKIN.

Our primary objective will be to provide a safe and secure environment within which the Conservative Party Annual Conference can take place and to minimise disruption to the local communities and businesses within the West Midlands area.

In order to achieve a safe and secure environment a secure Site around both the ICC and The Hyatt Hotel will be established and to further aid security a Vehicle Restriction Zone will extend to the immediate roads surrounding the Island Site.

Your premises does not fall within the Vehicle Restriction Zone however access through to Cambridge Street will be restricted. For your information the Vehicle Restriction Zone will be enforced from 0500 hours Sunday 30th September and Wednesday 3rd October 2018
