Broad Street Canal Tunnel Reopens Tomorrow 14 March

Bang on schedule the Broad Street canal tunnel will reopen to boats and towpath walkers on Thursday 14 March.

Westside Tram Extension Update on Plans

This is a Reminder that there is a free public meeting in the Hyatt Broad Street this Saturday, 9th Feb – 10am to 12pm. The main subject will be an update on the implementation plans of the Metro Tram extension to run around the town hall, up Broad Street and on to the West side of Five Ways island.

The meeting has been created by volunteer members of the City Centre Neighbourhood Forum which supports city dwellers on city matters.

This is an opportunity to ask questions of the Project Lead, Tom Willets from Midland Metro Alliance, the developers.

Plan Your Route EASILY Around Closed Paradise Circus

Paradise Circus closes for a year from Monday 3 September until summer 2019. This means the road running alongside the Copthorne hotel will close to all traffic.

Centenary Square will close to vehicles from Monday 3 September but will remain open to public transport until mid-September.

A very useful interactive map has been created by the MMA to guide you around this closure no matter what your means of travel.

It is my observation that the first day of the Broad Street Restrictions did not go too well in spite of the street marshals working very hard to advise and direct drivers who found that the route they may have taken for years  was no longer possible.

Five Ways Underpass and Broad Street Restrictions Postponed

We previously reported that they were to come into force on Monday 8 January 2018 but we have just been informed by Midland Metro Alliance that this  has been postponed pending further discussions with the City Council.

Ozzy duly arrived today, as promised in my earlier post, at the new Metro tram stop in Corporation Street at 11am and was greeted by a crowd of several hundred and loud cheers.
